MEET Valeria Murrieta!

Author: Giselle Ortega

Meet Valeria Murrieta, whose journey from restaurants and hotels to MAKE Projects is rooted in hard work and a passion for community. With a background in hospitality management, Valeria discovered MAKE through a friend who had volunteered here, and by February, she officially joined the team.

Originally from Tijuana, Valeria moved to San Diego after graduating, hoping to use her skills to give back. Everything she learned from hospitality, service, flexibility, and problem-solving now helps her thrive at MAKE. In her nine months here, she’s strengthened her research skills, quick thinking, and adaptability, all while taking on major responsibilities in finances and business operations.

Valeria describes MAKE as a “welcoming environment” that anyone would be lucky to be part of, whether as staff, volunteer, or CSA member. She encourages anyone interested to jump in and experience the community for themselves.

Outside of her role, Valeria enjoys gardening, traveling, and cooking from scratch—especially her go-to dish: spaghetti and meatballs. And a fun fact? She’s also a certified yoga instructor, bringing balance and calm wherever she goes.

Valeria continues to make a meaningful impact at MAKE, using her skills and heart to support the mission every day.
