Here is a description of MAKE's Training Program.

185-hours in program
-
4-days a week: mandatory Wednesday training day, three work experience days
-
Wednesday-Saturday MORNING schedule
-
4 weeks at MAKE Farm working as a team to harvest vegetables and talk to customers and visitors
- 4 weeks in the MAKE kitchen

4 weeks as MAKE Cafe barista, cashier and busser/runner

Three-Year Food Handlers' Card
-
Temporary, part-time employment at City of San Diego minimum wage
Are you eligible?

English language learner (Level 3 High Beginner and up)
-
Comfortable outdoors on the farm in the sun during hot/cold weather

Comfortable working in the kitchen and with customers in MAKE Cafe

Available every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday for the whole 12-week duration of the training program - participants can only miss 12 hours

Must be able to stand for long hours (3-4 hours) and lift 20 pounds
- Low-income household
- Country of origin outside of the U.S.
- Adults ages 18 years and older
- Valid U.S. work authorization
MAKE prioritizes applicants receiving EBT/SNAP/CalFresh benefits but without TANF/cash assistance benefits.
