The Program
Our 12-week training program empowers refugee and immigrant women through job readiness trainings, hands-on work experience, career counseling and a supportive environment to boost their confidence and support their futures.
We are currently open to receiving applications to our Fall 2025 Training Program. This next cohort will begin September 24, 2025. The Fall 2025 Program will include:

144 total participant program hours

Training and direct experience growing organic herbs and vegetables at MAKE Farm

Training and direct experience in public speaking and professional social skills interacting with customers, school children and the general public

Regular coaching in time management, communication, technical skills, growth mindset and teamwork

Customized job search, resume and career planning services for a post-MAKE job placement and continued educational plan towards a living wage career pathway

First aid/CPR certification training

Temporary, part-time employment at City of San Diego minimum wage
Program Eligibility

Comfortable outdoors on the farm in the sun during hot/cold weather

Available every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 8:00am-12:00pm for the whole 12-week duration of the training program

Receive EBT/SNAP/CalFresh benefits but without TANF/cash assistance benefits
- Adults ages 18 years and older
- Valid U.S. work authorization
